Philadelphia Phillies (77-56) at Houston Astros (65-70)
2:05pm - Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX
Cole Hamels, LHP (8-8, 4.26) v. Bud Norris, RHP (3-3, 6.61)
The third game of the series will be an afternoon affair between Cole Hamels and Bud Norris. Hamels has put together a string of solid starts, in which he has held opponents scoreless for the last 19 innings. He will try to continue this success against the Astros' Bud Norris. Norris has been hit hard this season in limited action, and the righty will have the tough task of holding the Phillies offense down. With the Phillies dropping the first two games, they really need to come out and make a statement this afternoon.

Cole Hamels will look to be the stopper as he extends his 19 inning scoreless streak. If the Phillies can get Hamels back on track as they prepare for the postseason, they will have a much easier time clinching the East. Hamels has done mediocre against current Astros hitters, who have a .302 average against him in 60 career plate appearances. With the Astros' offense rolling lately, Hamels will need to keep the hitters off his change up with the use of more curve balls.
Astros' rookie Bud Norris will get the start against the Phillies. The struggling rookie will look to continue the pitching dominance over the Phils' offense. Normally, Phillies hitters will either devour a young pitcher or get completely shut down. Facing the righty in the spacious Minute Maid Park means that the Phils need to be patient and work a lot of deep counts against the youngster. If they are not patient, it could be yet another long afternoon at the park.
Today will be a tough game. After a flat loss on Friday, the Phillies suffered a demoralizing loss last night. They will need to have a lot of energy to get up off the mat and salvage this series. Coming into Houston, the Phillies were sleepwalking. The Astros are a good team that cannot be taken lightly. The effort and execution must be stepped up in the final two games of the series.
